Completely Unprofessional

Called Dean's for a furnace cleaning. The tech discovered a broken heat exchanger and explained the only option was to replace the entire furnace for $4300 (base model for a 900 square foot home). I asked about the warranty or replacing the part and was told the unit is too old and the part cannot be replaced. He proceeded to remove the furnace and leave to come back another day. I followed up on the warranty and the original installer told me that not only was the part replaceable for 1/5 of the cost, it was still under warranty (they also quoted the same type furnace at $2500). After I made an appointment with the original installer to replace the exchanger I called to cancel with Dean's. The tech called back to say that they would charge $440 for the furnace removal. Several phone calls with Dean's since then and I have only been insulted, further deceived and threatened. Save yourself the trouble and money and look at another company.

Warning: These guys are predators

They will not quote even estimates over the phone--they require a $49 visit. The price they quoted me for seating two toilets (I supplied the toilets) was $1,200. I wrote the guy a check for $49 and kicked him out of my house. I found a guy (Jim Thomson from ProMaster Plumbing) who did the job for only $300--and he hauled away the old toilets. I shudder to think about how these guys work with people who don't know any better. And they are listed with the a bureau that's supposed to support better business! That's really shameful.

DO NOT CALL! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Want to pay well more than double the market price? This is your guy. I found myself in a 40 degree house on a 10 below zero day... Needed a hot surface ignitor replaced. Being a first time homeowner, I had no idea what this should cost, so I sucked it up and paid the $890 in addition to the $150 emergency service call charge ($1040 total). That is right- to replace an ignitor that costs $25-50 and took no more than 15 minutes to install. I didn't know before hand, but you can bet that as soon as I told someone what I paid, their jaw dropped to the floor, causing me to do some comparison shopping, only to find out just how much money I'd been taken for. Please do not call this company, and spread the word. I would absolutely hate for anyone else to end up in this situation.

Extortionists with Horrible Business Ethics

NEVER CALL THESE SCAM ARTISTS!!!!!!!! My wife and I found a gas leak due to a faulty part in our main gas line (builder of new condo covered it). It was discovered at 1 am on saturday morning. That night, they had to turn off our heat (it was 10 degrees outside ) and centerpoint was booked up for over a week and could not help us . They would later say that they would have cahrged $95 total for the service. We lived in a condo complex, so the leak would have affected others. I was gone saturday and my wife called Dean's to fix it. She did not know anything about going rates for a service like this, BUT WE WERE CHARGED $554 dollars for a simple replacement part in our line. a $150 trip charge with gas prices at $1.69 a gallon!!!!! I would find out a day later that Centerpoint would have charged $95 total, and two other plumbers in the area said they would not have charged more than $200 TOTAL for a trip to our place and the service performed on that Saturday. They took advantage of my wife in an emergency situation where she just had to get the problem fixed and didnt have time to call around, and they basically extorted money from us. NEVER CALL THESE PEOPLE. HORRIBLY UNETHICAL. I am filing a report today...
