October 2010, I signed a contract for a fence. At the end of November, my fence still wasn't in. After a phone call and e-mail, the owner finally e-mailed me days later. He apologized for the delay and asked that some of us wait til spring. I agreed to wait as long as we could talk about my deposit as I wasn't comfortable with him keeping it over the winter. No response. Over the winter, I tried unsuccessfully to get ahold of the owner. In April 2011, I finally got ahold of the salesman who had worked with us, but he no loner worked for Peckels. He had contacted the owner, Jake, regarding my calls. Finally Jake did call, but contacted my husband instead of me. When my husband told him that we wanted our deposit back due to the extremely poor customer service, Jake got mad. Jake then called me. After a brief arguement, he agreed to refund the deposit. I wrote a formal cancellation letter to which Jake responded, in writing, that he would return my deposit by May 1st. Finally got a check for my deposit around May 3rd after I had to repeatedly call him. Then, the check bounced. Had to get a hold of Jake again, which took numerous calls to get him to call back. Jake then promised to give me cash after some of his deposits cleared. When I didn't get a call back on a time frame, I called him and he promised to drop it at my house at 7am on Sat. 6/4/11. Never showed up and never returned my phone call. Jake Peckels, the owner of Peckels Fence, is a liar, scam artist and thief.

I searched and networked for months to find a company to build my fence. I had bids from all the so called "big" companies in town. I had a friend who used this company, and I called them. From the very beginning I liked the company! Rich came out to my home sat down with me and together we worked out a plan. Then I met Jake, the owner, nicest guy ever. This is not a "prefab" company, every single piece of wood is hand cut and designed to your complete wishes. An absolutely beautiful job, I am so very pleased. Prices were right in the middle, but NONE of the other companies HAND built their fences, which gave me premium wood and perfect design. Nothing but good things to say about this company, on time and delightful workers. It is so wonderful to find a company and it's workers who are honest,hardworking and so caring about their work and their customers......I HIGHLY RECOMMEND them!
